My name is Fabian. I'm a knifemaker from Germany. I'm 37 years old (in 2023), husband and father of two kiddo's.
My journey into knifemaking started in 2017. I made my first knife out of cheap, unhardenable steel and some wood, laying around in my shop. It was ugly as hell and not usable 😄 but it was this moment that grabbed me!
I bought some knife steel and started making my first "useful" knife. It was also ugly but useful 😄
Since then, I've put all sorts of ideas into action that I had and simply tried out everything I wanted.
At some point I started working with chef's knives. Chef's knives require so much more attention than other knives. Every aspect of a chef's knife is so important that small details make the difference between good and very good. This always fascinates me and demands so much attention.
Of course you have to make mistakes in order to develop. When I look at my first works today, I feel a little ashamed. Today I know better and find that these mishaps have brought me significantly forward. However, I am always trying and optimizing because I believe that there is still potential to become even better. This journey will probably never end, but that's what fascinates me about making knives.
I was asked what my logo was about. A Capricorn. my last name is JAEGER. Capricorn is my zodiac sign and I find this animal very graceful. So one day I had the idea to establish this as my logo.
As I said, my journey and my development will continue and I am grateful for everyone who appreciates my work. Of course it is difficult to establish your business. But nothing comes overnight. It's hard work every day but it fills me with so much happiness and joy that I don't see it as work. Rather than fulfillment.
